WHEN WE WANT to be creative we’re told to think outside of the box, but for this tutorial we’re doing the opposite. In-camera framing is a good way to control the viewer’s gaze, but here we also use frames to show multiple subjects in a single image.

If you’re looking for a quick tutorial to try within a couple of hours, this isn’t it. Whilst the actual photography is fairly simple to shoot, the time it takes to build the box and edit the composite together may mean it becomes a project over a couple of days. But with the Christmas break to fill, there’s no better time than now to try it with the whole family.
