|January 2020
Get off to a flying start this New Year (and new decade) with 22 tips to really progress your photography.
As 2020 is just around the corner, it’s not only a brand new year but also a brand new decade. When it comes to new beginnings, it can be good to assess where you are with your photography, and make aspirations for the coming year – or 10 years if you want to have a longer-term goal. It might be that you want to improve your editing skills, or try out a new technique. It could be that you want to turn your hobby into a profession, or just make more time in your busy schedule to take photos. Whatever your aspirations are, it can be useful to set yourself some small tasks and challenges to get the ball rolling.
Over the next 13 pages, we’re going to deliver some top tips so you can do exactly this – from advice on where to travel (or not… home already provides great opportunities) to cleaning your kit and keeping everything in order. It’s often the small things that get overlooked but are so vital. And a happy new photographic year to all our readers!
1 GET UP EARLY
You know what they say: “The early bird catches the worm!” Make it your 2020 New Year resolution to get up early at least once a month, so you can capture that gorgeous first light. This is easier to do in the winter months, as you don’t need to get up at stupid o’clock, although the cold conditions can seem offputting. Once you’re out there, though, the effort is worth it.
