Nothing that football throws up these days should come as a surprise.

Covid Scare Isn't Big Shock – Just A Sign Of The Times

The game is mirroring everyday life, a world where nothing seems normal and you can’t take anything for granted.

So when I was told on Thursday that St Mirren had a Covid-19 outbreak in their camp it didn’t come as a shock.

Of course, Saints are our opponents for next weekend’s Premiership opener.

I just felt it was Sod’s Law that this latest testing issue could have impacted Livingston’s big kick-off this season.

Did I get a fright at the news coming from Paisley? No.

I’m naturally open-minded. In this current climate, I kind of anticipated there would be issues.

I prefer to look at the positives. What has happened at St Mirren shows how well this virus is being identified by the testing regimes put in place by our clubs.

It’s being detected early rather than players and staff being in training and around each other for weeks – then everyone testing positive.
