RUGBY league great Kevin Sinfield has promised to continue doing charity challenges to match the “bravery and courage” of his close friend Rob Burrow who is battling motor neurone disease.
The former Leeds Rhinos and Great Britain star raised more than £5million by running seven marathons in seven days last year and 101 miles in 24 hours a fortnight ago.
After crossing the finish line in his latest epic challenge, Kevin embraced former teammate Rob and photographers captured a look of appreciation between them.
Kevin said: "To see Rob at the end was really, really special. We ran on behalf of Rob and all wore that number seven [the shirt Rob wore when playing rugby league).
“He is a good friend and while he is willing to fight and show the bravery and courage he has, then it is only right that we stand tall with him and show him that he does not have to do it on his own." "That moment we sat together and the photograph was taken will be a memory I cherish.”
For his latest Extra Mile Challenge, 41-year-old Kevin ran from Leicester, where he works as the defence coach for Premiership rugby union side Leicester Tigers, to Headingley, the home of the Rhinos.
