RTI: Govt Has No Data Of Citizenship Applications

Government of India has no data on immigrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who have applied for citizenship.
A Right to Information (RTI) query to the Home Ministry has revealed that records of citizenship applications are not available. The reply has exposed the Government claim that lakhs of people from these countries seeking refuge in India stand to benefit from CAA. The Union Home Minister while a discussion on the Citizenship Act (Amendment) Bill had told Rajya Sabha last year that it will bring relief to lakhs of people.
