India tells China to restore status quo during talks between top commanders at Ladakh

The Indian and Chinese army generals met on Saturday and held a discussion in a bid to end the latest frontier showdown at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh as the two armies have been involved in a month-long standoff.

During the top military commanders meeting on Saturday, India sought the restoration of status quo in Ladakh to what as on April end before the faceoff at Pangong Lake triggered an escalation in the region leading to a massive build-up by both sides.

Sources said several measures to put an end to the confrontation were discussed. A detailed report on the deliberations will be made and shared with top leadership in the security establishment including Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane and Ministry of External Affairs.
