Delhi's Sports Academies On Verge Of Shutdown

Home ministry may have allowed athletes to resume training in stadia under the Sports Authority of India, but local private academies are still in dilemma as the Delhi government is yet to give clearance for starting operations.

Mail Today on Tuesday spoke to a few academy owners. And the paper discovered their plight following the COVID-19 induced nationwide lockdown.

A trained certified cricket coach, who lives in Chandni Chowk, is forced to sell vegetables to earn his living. When MAIL TODAY spoke to him, he tried to hide his face and was cautious while speaking.

“Please don’t take my picture. I am doing what I can to help my family. This lockdown has completely destroyed me from inside. I got some money from my students but then I can’t rely on them totally. So I have started selling vegetables, ” said the 34year-old on condition of anonymity.
