But coroner says right treatment would not have saved him
A “LOVELY gentleman” who took his own life received “inadequate” care on several occasions before his death - but a coroner does not believe that the right treatment would have saved him.
Mark Clayton, 46, was found dead at the Victoria Hotel in Bury on August 2, 2020, when staff forced their way into his room after he failed to check out on time.
An inquest into his death at Rochdale Coroner’s Court heard that the dad had been discharged from Fairfield General Hospital two days earlier.
Senior coroner Joanne Kearsley heard evidence during the three-day inquest about whether Mark should have been allowed to leave the Irwell Unit at Fairfield Hospital, as doctors thought he should remain there for another week before he requested his own discharge on July 31.
