Enfield duo are showing the way

YOU CAN'T KEEP TOWNERS DOWN

ANDY LEESE believes Enfield Town success stories Josh Davison and Mo Faal are being noted by hungry Non-League players.

The Isthmian Premier club were able to propel the two forwards into the Football League this season.

Davison, 20, joined Championship side Charlton Athletic in October and went onto make eight appearances for the Addicks’ first team, scoring one goal against West Brom.

Then, in January, hot-shot striker Faal – who had hit 24 goals in 25 games – left the Towners for Bolton Wanderers where the 22-year-old had played twice before football came to a shuddering halt.

Boss Leese, whose side were pushing for the playoffs when the Isthmian Premier season was abandoned, says it’s been great for the club. And he hopes they can keep growing their reputation for giving youngsters the platform to shine.

“We’re getting a reputation, I think, with Josh Davison, who went to Charlton, and Mo going to Bolton,” proud Leese told The NLP.

“I’ve had a couple of players contacting me, one in particular who recognised the fact we’ve done well with progressing our forwards on into the professional game.
