If that was not enough, Wealdstone keeper Stuart Moore produced a brilliant save to keep out Dan Smith’s stoppage-time penalty.

The first half was dominated by the Spitfires, who charged up the slope at great pace and tore the Stones’ defence to shreds.

On seven minutes, Andrew Boyce rose highest from a corner and planted his header into the net to give Eastleigh the lead.

Two minutes later, Ben House nearly doubled the lead but curled a shot wide.

Eastleigh didn’t have to wait long, however, to celebrate a second – Ryan Hill netting from an acute angle after the Wealdstone defence had twice failed to clear the ball.
