SOUTHEND United’s preparations for a first-ever season in NonLeague continued with a hard-fought draw at National League South Dartford.
A late own goal from Darts defender Josh Hill ensured this pre-season tie ended all square at Princes Park.
But Shrimper's boss Phil Brown remains fully focused on what lies ahead.
“I’m not bothered the results now I’m bothered about August 21st onwards,” said Brown. “We’re pleased to an extent today but it’s just about fitness.
“We scored a couple of goals and we conceded a couple of poor ones too.
“I didn’t think it was a penalty for their first goal and the young lads didn’t really stand up to the problem when the sub came on for the second.
