THERE were hugs – two days before hugging was offi cially sanctioned – and kisses and embraces galore as the Binfi eld players celebrated the win that took them to Wembley for the fi rst time. Social distancing seemed unheard of!

At the heart of the love-in was Sean Moore, the captain and top scorer for the Hellenic League club whose Premier Division campaign was voided in December with them unbeaten in second place.

Moore’s joy was tinged with a relief that was almost tangible as he had been the only visiting player to miss from the spot in the penalty shoot-out last Saturday that followed a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes at US Portsmouth.

“It wasn’t the happiest day of my life but it was the most emotional,” he said four days after that FA Vase semi-final. “I cried and smiled and cried and smiled again.”
