COBHAM’S victory over all-conquering Risborough Rangers was the archetypal smash and grab raid, as they gained handsome revenge for their FA Cup defeat almost 11 weeks ago.
They did so with an 87th minute goal from Ryan Debattista, which gave Risborough next to no time to get back on level terms.
The subsequent dismissal of midfielder Alex Sethi for a stupid spat with home substitute Sean Bradley did not help their cause.
Debattista would have represented Malta’s Under-19s in the European Championship had his passport come through on time.
He got the all-important goal after starting a move that led to another substitute, Jonathan Hood crossing for Bradley to have a shot clawed out by visiting goalkeeper Jack Brooker.
