Our Buckley's Got Stardust, Says Mowbray

TONY Mowbray tipped match-winner John Buckley to be a “big player” after his first goal for Blackburn secured a dramatic win over Sheffield Wednesday.

The club put on a firework display after the match, but the real fireworks took place at the pulsating conclusion of the game. Jacob Murphy’s 83rdminute header – his second this term – looked to have given the Owls the points.

But Rovers turned the game on its head. Tosin Adarabioyo’s towering header – his first goal for the club during his loan spell – gave them an 88th minute equaliser.

And 20-year-old Buckley, an academy graduate, snatched all three points for Rovers in the 91st minute when his deflected strike wrong-footed Keiren Westwood.

Mowbray said: “I hope his parents were here. John is a young player we trust and believe in, but it’s very difficult to give young boys game time when the team is struggling to win matches. John is going to be a big player for this club in the future, I hope.
