Hard-grafting striker bids to deliver again

JEVANI Brown was posting gifts through letterboxes a few Christmases ago – now he’s delivering nothing but goals for Colchester United!

The U’s striker has already surpassed his previous-best goal tally for a season before the halfway mark of the current campaign, reaching double figures by the end of November for Steve Ball’s side.

But banging in the goals hasn’t always been a way of life for Brown, with Amazon warehouse work among his jobs during a year out of football.

Journey

So the thought of coming into training on Christmas Day perhaps isn’t one that fills him with too much dread.

“I have had a bit of a journey,” he admitted. “I was at Peterborough for a year when I was 18 but when I left, I didn’t play football for a year – nothing at all.

“I’ve done a lot of different jobs in my time. If you name it, I’ve probably done it.
