Said, Karlan and Joe on move
CHAMPIONSHIP clubs cashed in on some of their prize assets before the transfer window closed – with Said Benrahma, Karlan Grant and Joe Rodon among those stepping up to the Premier League.
After selling striker Ollie Watkins to Aston Villa for £28m earlier in the window, Brentford have now seen another of their famed BMW strikeforce move on.
Algerian winger Benrahma had become a favourite with Bees fans for his virtuoso displays, but it was always likely he would move to the Premier League once Brentford lost to neighbours Fulham in last term’s play-off final.
In the event, it went down to the wire on Friday afternoon after a reported blood test issue from his medical with West Ham.
A deal was eventually struck that saw the Hammers pay a loan fee of £5 with an obligation to pay a further £20m next summer. The fee could even rise to £30m, with a potential £5m in add-ons.
