PM MODI'S VISIT TO ASSAM: CONNECTING DEVELOPMENT WITH POLL

As the CAA lost its importance as a political issue in the state of Assam, Prime Minister Modi felt comfortable with the idea of traveling to state and hence visited the state twice, early this year.

He made his first visit on January 23, when he gave land allotment certificates to 106,000 landless families in Assam. On February 7, he made another visit to the state where he launched the ‘Asom Mala’ project in Assam. This was his 2nd visit to the poll bound state in fortnight in this yar. While oppositions are criticizing his visits for using public sentiment and govt. schemes as tools for election campaign, the state BJP looks very enthusiastic with his visit as it boosted their moral and will have positive impact in the state.It is worth mentioning here that last year in the month of January, PM Modi's office had declined an invitation to attend the Khelo India games in the north-eastern state amid protests against the citizenship law.
