Transit Stop
Business Traveller Middle East
|July - August 2018
Gulf airports are busy targeting transit passengers this summer.

Dubai International Airport has plenty to keep transit passengers occupied but those with longer connections will soon be able to step out and see the city’s sights.
The UAE Cabinet recently decreed that transit passengers are exempt from all entry fees for the first 48 hours and transit visas can be extended for up to 96 hours for a fee of Dhs50, according to the Gulf News. This dovetails with the 10X ‘Microcosm of Dubai’ project, in partnership with Dubai Future Foundation, which aims to promote the city’s tourism offering to passengers.
Around 53 percent of DXB’s total passengers are connecting yet their experiences – and revenues – are confined to the airport.
