One Formula For Change

To inject excitement back into its races, Formula One needs more than a tweak or new twist—it needs to correct its course.

Any race fan will tell you, often loudly, that nothing beats the thrill of a pass for the lead with the green flag waving. And any Formula One fan will admit, quietly, that the thrill is long gone.
So far, every 2018 F1 race has been won due to either a fast pit or strategy, a fact not lost on four-time world champ Sebastian Vettel. His daring if futile attempt to pass Valtteri Bottas at the Azerbaijan GP on April 29 left him with flat spotted tires, an unwanted pit and no chance to win. “Obviously, it’s easy to say it was not the right move,” Vettel said of locking up his tires in Turn 1. “I had to try. I tried, and it didn’t work.”
