There’s nothing quite as nostalgic as a drive-in movie theatre. Here’s where to enjoy them across the UAE

Back in the day, you’d pull into a grassy lawn, park your ‘57 Chevy Bel Air convertible, and, if you were lucky enough to have an in-car radio at the time, hurry to dial into the movie audio’s radiofrequency. But these days, the experience has been ratcheted up a notch. Drive-in movie theatres – especially in the UAE – have high-quality sound and film equipment, electric car charging stations, and gourmet food on offer.

Vox Cinemas Drive-In

Reason to visit: The OG drive-in The first drive-in cinema in Dubai was Vox Cinemas Drive-In, which set up home in Mall of the Emirates on the third level of the mall’s car park under the Ski Dubai slope. Tickets cost Dhs180+VAT per car (maximum two people) and you’ll also get a range of snacks and drinks, including popcorn, nachos, M&Ms and Pepsi. Screenings start at 7.30 pm each night.
