Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without any experience in first-class cricket.

David Warner, the vice captain of the Australian team, is always considered special by former cricketers and pundits. It is because of his talent and hitting abilities that he has been kept among one of the bests even by his rivals. The left hand batsman is scoring runs since years and has played an important role in Australia’s resounding success at the international level. An explosive left-handed opening batsman, Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without any experience in first-class cricket. Warner made his international debut for Australia in a Twenty 20 International against South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 11 January 2009. Warner’s international career started in 2009 with a bit of history – he was the first man to represent Australia without a first-class match to his name since 1877. He made an immediate impact, scoring 89 off 43 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes, including the then second-fastest fifty in Twenty 20 International history. After this sensational start, he was drafted in the ODI side as well but he didn’t do much for two years and had to go through torrid times in the batting department. The inexperience of playing at the highest level was quite visible in his approach as he was easily undone by the rival bowlers. However, the selectors kept faith in him and drafted him in the Test side in 2011. In just his second Test, David Warner scored an impressive century in the second innings but couldn’t save his team from a defeat against New Zealand. However, a star was born, who was tipped for great success. After playing this sublime knock, he continued his heroics with the bat.
