Church Bells Are Ringing

Daniel Church is looking ahead to the rest of the season now that he is back fighting fit.

ARCTIC conditions descended on Scotland recently but you will hear no complaints from Daniel Church about the snow or freezing temperatures at training. Having spent the entire first half of the season on the treatment table, the 17-year-old is absolutely delighted to be back on a football pitch again, regardless of the inclement weather.

The first six months of the campaign were a tough time for the left-back as a knee problem meant he could only watch from the sidelines as his team-mates competed in a number of competitions in domestic and European football, including the UEFA Youth League. It was all the more frustrating for the Bonnybridge Bhoy, given he had just stepped up from the Under-17s and was eager to stake a claim for a regular starting spot.

But as he reflected on this difficult period in his fledging career, Church revealed that all the long hours in the physio’s room had given him a fresh perspective on being a footballer.

“Coming up from the 17s to 20s is a big season, and you want to make an impression in the first couple of weeks of training – it’s vital to get into the team,” said the young Celt in an exclusive interview with the View.
