More than just a means to create privacy, blinds and shutters have evolved to become integral elements in home design, offering everything from décor to temperature control and security. In 2021, they’re only going to become more indispensible, not to mention convenient.

If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that our homes should always be comfortable and secure.

Looking ahead, these qualities are going to become more vital as we continue to spend quality time living and working at home, says Blind Designs’ Paul O’Brien. “For 2021, we predict a rising demand for window coverings that allow the correct balance of natural light. This helps minimise the use of artificial lighting during the day, cutting down energy costs.”

O’Brien adds, “With everyone spending extended periods in their homes, they have come to terms with the need for sun and weather protection in areas they are using more often. Outdoor blinds offer the benefit of energy efficiency, allowing you to control heat and solar gain before it enters the home.”
