Christelle Scifo, founder of floral and set design studio Fleurette, is making a name for herself as a budding floral stylist and certified creative slashie.
THE TERM FLORAL CHOREOGRAPHY SEEMS A FITTING WAY to describe the work of Christelle Scifo. After all, the creative director, consultant and stylist was once a ballet dancer, studying and living in Paris. Thanks to a childhood spent surrounded by a family of artists and gardeners, it’s little surprise that Christelle chose a creative path. “It happened gradually and naturally,” she reflects. “The art, flowers and fashion were always there, through part-time jobs and internships with brands and magazines.” She began styling after an injury put a halt to her dance career, and at 28 she launched Fleurette, a multidisciplinary studio involving set design, floral styling and brand consulting. The life of a freelancer isn’t all roses, she confides, citing the early-morning call times as one of the downsides. But on the flipside, she spends many of those mornings at the flower markets, and no two days are the same, from events and installations to creating concept briefs and catching up on emails. “There’s not one aspect I prefer more. My work is what I enjoy and the chance to create across many fields is such a luxury.” Stay tuned for her upcoming collection of 10 limited-edition vases and vessels created in collaboration with Copper & Clay. Each piece has been unique
