Laura and Chris Sabogal’s two-up, two-down Victorian terrace has been transformed into a four-bed family home with a kitchen-diner and spacious loft extension

Character Building

Laura used a mixture of materials to create a layered look at the back of the property. Scandistyle timber painted in black is a nod to the ‘country shack’ look she favours. The first floor is rendered while the loft extension is contrasting zinc. Crittall-style doors by Fabco bring extra light into the kitchen.

Laura maximised the kitchen space with a wall of floor-to-ceiling cabinets with pull out drawers for the kettle and toaster. ‘I prefer a streamlined look and by keeping appliances in the cabinets, the kitchen never looks cluttered. To stay on budget, we spray-painted an Ikea kitchen in Farrow & Ball’s Railings, and our builder built the island and cabinets.’
