Making Their Mark

Relocating from Wales, homeowners Anesa and Mike found their perfect family home nestled within the scenic surroundings of Downpatrick, Co. Down.

Making Their Mark

In February 2019, Anesa and her husband Mike along with their three young children, two girls and a boy, made the move from Newport in South Wales. As she explains, ‘I grew up with my mum in Wales, but my dad has been living in Northern Ireland for 30 years or more now and I spent all of the holidays growing up over here so know it well. My brother and sister had already relocated to live here and we knew it was the right move for us too. ‘Prior to viewing the house, all we knew of Downpatrick was what we got to know on drives with the children out for an ice-cream once lockdown rules were relaxed. We liked the area, and while we had no definite plan for where we wanted to settle, once we viewed our house we knew we’d found the right one for us. Although only a shell on our first viewing, it immediately had curb appeal, offered all the space we needed and the fact it wasn’t overlooked by other houses and had magnificent views of the Mourne Mountains made it irresistible.’

While talking to the foeman on their viewing the couple actually discovered that the house was being build by MG Construction. ‘My dad and stepmum’s house was built by MG Construction so we knew the quality of the homes they build. Owner, Michael Galloway was very accommodating with us when it came to making changes, which fortunately we had the chance to do because we got in so early in the build.’ One of the changes made by Anesa and Mike was to the flooring in the entrance hall.
