A NUTRIENT DEFICIENCY

Lack of iron, vitamin B₁2 or B9 or other nutrients can lead to anemia, says Stefani Sassos, M.S., R.D.N., the Good Housekeeping Institute's Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. When you have anemia, your body doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells to deliver oxygen to your organs, and that can make you feel cold, especially in your extremities. Women are at higher risk (particularly those who are pregnant), but vegetarians and people over 65 are prone as well, says Sassos.
