Brona and John have remodelled and updated an existing extension with a bespoke new kitchen scheme maximising what had been an awkwardly shaped room.

Brona, John and their family lived here for twelve months with the existing layout they inherited before embarking on their refurbishment project. ‘We bought the property in 2017 and lived here for a year, during which time all options were considered. In the end, we decided to commence a full refurbishment including complete external insulation, windows etc and the existing kitchen and living space was redesigned, with a series of smaller rooms opened up to allow for an open plan living, eating and cooking space within the kitchen area,’ says John.

Renovating the existing 30-year-old extension of the original 70-year-old house, the couple’s time living here pre-renovations helped them decided what they wanted to achieve from their new layout. Working with the footprint they inherited with the house, they have cleverly reconfigured the spaces to connect the original kitchen footprint to an open plan dining and living area that had previously been a series of much smaller rooms.
