MOVING INTO A FAMILY HOME PRESENTS a specific set of design challenges. It’s important to respect the home’s character and history, but also to feel free to express your personal style throughout the space.

Ashley Hale faced these challenges when she inherited her grandparents’beloved seaside bungalow. After moving in, Ashley explains, “I wanted to put my own stamp on it and really make it a space that felt like ours and our growing family’s.” Despite the nostalgia tied to her grandparents’ furnishings, she felt it was time to add a personal touch, accomplished through a series of farmhouse-style DIY projects and updates.
