Vintage Bandra

The quaint Jamjar Diner in Versova which would instantly remind you of the bygone eras and of grandmom’s kitchen was an instant hit in the area for its contemporary comfort food.

The concept conjured up a fictional grandmother opening her sweet little cottage to serve people her best sellers. As a stereotypical perception of grandparents, the natural hoarders that they are, she had decided to stack the walls with her old furniture, choosing not to throw them away; and to make space for her guests instead. “This was something we had worked on five years ago. Keeping with this, and advancing the storyline; the grandmother, buoyed by the success of her first little venture, travelled the world seeking out hobbies and collecting new recipes from her jaunts. This back story inspired us in creating Jamjar Diner, Bandra,” informs architect Raja Arjun who heads the practice OCD (Office of Cognitive Design). The new space, measuring 1,500 sq ft is designed in collaboration with Akshara Verma.
