Interior designer Bhavin Mistry transforms an Ahmedabad apartment into one of restrained elegance where the traditional and contemporary interact. The result is a subtle, stylish home that accommodates the needs of its inhabitants and is also reflective of their personalities.

Having over six years of experience in interior designing, Bhavin Mistry, who is a great admirer of the works of Nate Berkus and Rose Uniacke, says, “My core belief is that design is an ongoing process that synthesizes and manifests in a constant growth of skills. I don’t bind myself with any particular style. My endeavour is to explore new ways of designing in context to the brief and the requirements — I like to experiment beyond the tested.” This thought process is exemplified in the spirit of his recently completed project, a 1,550 sq ft, 4-BHK apartment in Usmanpura, Ahmedabad, for clients Meghna and Tejas Agrawal.

The client’s brief was straightforward and crisp. They wanted a home that would have a clear narrative in terms of function and decor. The design didn’t necessarily need to be chest thumping in its proclamation of identity but must bear the mark of their quiet, confident lifestyle.
