Architect Ganesh Kumar of Studio69 creates a clean-lined, minimalistic, contemporary second home enlivened with lush greenery on the outskirts of Bangalore for himself.

Living spaces are born out of a variety of reasons. This one, Aakara, took shape from a pure desire to render something for its sake only. And since the client and architect were the same, it was, to a large extent, unfettered by adjuncts that are listed under requirements or specifications.
It was not even with the aim of making a second home that Bangalore-based Ganesh Kumar (who heads architecture and design firm Studio69) had purchased this plot in a gated community on the outskirts of the city. It just became the canvas for creative outpourings. “The beauty of this project is that I had a free hand. I was not bound by the typical requirements of material and colour. It was to be designed for something more than mere usage… it was satisfaction and space management. I liked it and therefore I did it. It was as simple as that.”
