Renesa Architects takes inspiration from the process of pizza making to devise a rustic yet colourful design for the Instapizza outlet at Gurgaon.

- Deepa Nair

Rugged Allure

New York born and bred young entrepreneur Ashwin Jain had always desired to contribute something new and unique to the food and beverage industry of India. Ashwin, after much research — and I must also add here, his undying love for pizza — decided to get Chicago's famous deep dish pizza to Indian shores and targeted the NCR region for its debut. And so, Instapizza was born in August 2014 with its first branch in Galleria, Gurgaon followed by another in Kalkaji, New Delhi. The space splashed in these pages is the third one at GoodEarth Mall, Gurgaon which was brought to life by Renesa Architects. Founded by architect Sanjay Arora and ably assisted by his son Sanchit Arora (Studio Head Architect); Renesa Architects have been churning out some fantastic projects in the residential, corporate and hospitality spaces since 2006.

The Aroras were already working on another project for Ashwin when they were offered the GoodEarth Mall outlet. “We analysed the unique bond between gastronomy and design enthusiasts and most importantly the very audience the chain largely caters to — the youth. Also, the basic idea was to create a theme-based module which could be replicated in the coming years at forthcoming branches,” informs Sanchit. Another vital inspiration came from the process of pizza making — an industrial chain effect in itself — which uses a conveyor belt.
