Naturally Inclined

Nature indeed is the best teacher… that’s what one can sum up after interacting with the young protagonist of this story — interior designer Satviki Trivedi. Based in Ahmedabad presently, Satviki attributes her early years in Rajkot and Surat to be the foundation of the design ethos she follows in all her projects. “Since my childhood I’ve been constantly surrounded by nature. We briefly lived in Rajkot at my grandparents’ beautiful house with a garden. My grandfather used to take me every morning to feed animals and birds at the front gate. When my parents decided to move to Surat, my father (a chef), who is passionate about design, built a home for us, and to be honest, I’ve never seen a house like that — more than 65 per cent of the land area was a garden. While the house was being built, we stayed with my maternal grandparents who had a small organic farm filled with mango, coconut, cashew trees, an abundance of vegetables, sunflowers and more. My upbringing, has revolved only around nature, and even today any major decision I make is made in the company of plants,” explains Satviki about her growing up years, and her close interaction with nature.
