Moulding Stories
Better Interiors
|November 2016
By using an ordinary material like clay and the common man as his muse, sculptor and visual storyteller Aman Khanna creates Claymen — minimal, realistic and thought-provoking objects that meditate upon the life of man and the purpose of his existence.

Having studied information design at the London College of Communication, Aman Khanna went on to cement his career as an illustrator, graphic designer and visual storyteller by establishing a design firm called Infomen with a friend in London. But his heart belonged to India, and troubled by the lack of well-designed information for social development, he returned home to New Delhi and founded Infonauts, a firm that works on communicating information on social and environmental issues in the development sector with international NGOs like WHO, GIZ (German Technical Corporation), GGGI (Global Green Growth Initiative), etc. As a graphic designer, he worked primarily in two-dimensions, but curiosity led him to dapple in three-dimensional design, and eventually resulted in Claymen — a thought-provoking series of sculptures inspired by mankind. When asked why he chose clay as his medium of expression Aman tells us, “It allows complete freedom to create something new and unique every time I play with it. It remains my all-time favourite since it’s the most forgiving material and it can be moulded into any shape or form.”
