A room with good bones but a tired look is ripe for a makeover. And for total transformation without a costly renovation, paint is the way to go. In this previously purple home office and sometime spare room, paint was used to both highlight and create architectural features, and underpin a new colour palette and interior style. It's now a chic multipurpose space with lots of ideas to steal for your place.

Add a bespoke touch with textiles. Here, the same lovely fabric was used to make wallhanging and cushion covers.

For you to note

We used Porter's Paints Eggshell Acrylic on the walls and Aqua Satin on the trim.

Here's how

STEP 1 Apply white acrylic to walls, from cornice to im down, using a roller. Let dry.

STEP 2 Mask off walls with painter's tape about 600mm down from ceiling.

STEP 3 Apply neutral paint to walls below tape. This two-tone effect will create the look of a picture rail without adding mouldings to walls. Remove tape while paint is still tacky. Let dry.
