|April 2022
With its magnificent proportions and elegant detailing this Victorian-era villa in Sydney is the perfect home, entertaining space and gallery for its art-loving owners.
-

Contemporary art adviser Amanda Love and her businessman husband Andrew have made art their life, and their Sydney home, breathtaking in its proportions, is an artwork in its own right.
Distinctive, classic, all white – the freestanding late-Victorian villa with rear stables looks very different from the Tuscan-style terracotta facade it presented when the couple bought it 30 years ago. While the front rooms were beautifully proportioned and symmetrical with high ceilings and flooded with natural light, the rear of the house was less appealing.
The home’s stately facade is enhanced by an outdoor sculptural work of steel l-beams by British artistMartin Creed, Work No. 2559, 2015. Owner and art adviser Amanda Love by the pool in front of a newly installed work by Agatha GotheSnape, We all walk out in the end, 2012,that stretches across the entire wall, and a bronze sculpture by Tracey Emin, With time you slowly disappear, 2017, that rises 196cm above the ground.

On the right wall, from left, a collage by Lillian O’Neil, Allostatic Load, 2017, Tracey Emin’s Trying To Find You II, 2007, and Louise Bourgeois’ Fear 7/25, 1999 (a gift from Elton John). On the left wall is a sculptural installation of objects on a shelf by Shaun Gladwell, Absolute Event Horizon, 2009.
