Homeopathy for Adenoiditis & Earaches

Three-year-old Master Kishore came to us, with his parents, for recurrent cough and cold, nasal obstruction and breathing through the mouth and also snoring patterns. His parents told us that they had taken him to an ear, nose and throat [ENT] surgeon earlier. The doctor had diagnosed his trouble as adenoiditis and advised removal [adenoidectomy]. Kishore’s parents, although worried about his recurrent cold, cough and mouth breathing, wanted to get rid of it quickly. At the same time, they were keen to try out a non-surgical option, such as homeopathy.

Following case-taking, we found that Kishore was a carefree child, mixing easily with others. He also had a strong desire to go out often, so much so he would pester his father to take him out as soon he returned home from office.

We put him on the homeopathic Calcarea Phosphoricum. Within a week, his ‘mouth breathing’ and snoring reduced by 50 per cent. After ten weeks, there was not a single episode of cold and cough. What’s more, his face started looking composed and fresh, much to his parents’ delight.

The ENT surgeon’s opinion was solicited again. To his surprise, the adenoids had regressed completely. Kishore’s nasal passage to was clear and healthy.

SPONGY DESPAIR

Adenoids are small, spongy glands that are situated high up in the throat — just behind the nose. Like tonsils, the glands protect children from catching infections by trapping the bacteria and viruses that could enter the body through food, or air. When adenoids get swollen [adenoiditis], while fighting infections, it makes breathing somewhat difficult for kids. By the time a child turns five, adenoids start shrinking and practically disappear around the teenage years. But, before that, they can cause enough trouble for kids prone to the problem and also parents.
