Inspired By Industrial Cool, This Family Home’s Monochrome Palette Is Softened By Gorgeous Greenery

There’s no questioning the commitment of homeowner Caroline to the renovation of her Federation home on Sydney’s leafy north shore. Having always coveted New York loft style – a little bit industrial with bare brick feature walls – Caroline devoted two days to painstakingly chipping away dark brown paint to convert a wall in the formal living room into an exposed brick feature. “Everything in the room was covered in plastic to protect it from the immense amount of lime dust created,” she says with a laugh. “It looked like a scene from [TV show] Dexter.” Luckily, her labour of love was well worth the effort, with the brick wall coming up a treat and providing an ideal canvas for monochromatic tones and pops of blush pink, which set the theme for the home’s sophisticated new look.
