MAKS 2019

MAKS is an important event for the Russian aviation industry and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Although it started mainly as an entertainment event, the show soon became a marketplace where Russian aerospace companies could negotiate export contracts and Russian air carriers could make foreign contacts.

For the first time China was not only a partner in the exhibition but was also the largest exhibitor having sent some 20 companies and exhibits in the largest area – 3 000 square meters, featuring weapons, aircraft and equipment.

The international Aviation and Space Show MAKS 2019 was held at Zhukovsky International Airport, outside Moscow and ran from August 27 to September 1. The event’s organizers were Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry and Rostec. The show brought together 827 companies from 33 countries, including 184 foreign companies.

Top exhibit for the Aviation Industry of China (AVIC) was the AG600 large amphibious aircraft, exhibited outside the country for the first time. Equally popular was the JH-17 fighter jet jointly developed by China and Pakistan and the Wing Loong series drones. According to AVIC participation at MAKS2019 helped deepen ChinaRussia aviation cooperation.

China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) exhibited the CU42, China's first large, twin-engine long-endurance drone which is capable of carrying a wide variety of payload, making it viable for different missions such as counter-terrorism, border patrol and rescue and geographical survey. Also on display was Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China’s home developed C919 passenger aircraft and the CR929 passenger aircraft jointly developed by China and Russia.

China’s participation as a partner country celebrated the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.
