John Inglis Hall once wrote, “The fact is that anyone who reads about the Truim and sees it through my eyes must be very careful indeed not to be deceived. It occurs to me that it might be fairer if I pointed out right away its defects, for these, with considered care, I invariably conceal from myself, but I have come to notice that they are serious enough entirely to defeat many people who have been lured by my jack o’lantern enthusiasm to give it a try.” *
