RIP Bob Church

ANGLING great Bob Church has sadly passed away, at the age of 83.

All-rounder Bob successfully combined specimen hunting for coarse fish and game angling, becoming one of the biggest names in the sport.

Northampton-based Bob's medal tally for the England trout team included team Gold at the World Fly Fishing Champs in 1987 and 1988 and European team Gold in 1990.

He created a successful tackle and clothing business with first wife, Beryl, and son, Stephen, and was president of Northampton Specimen Group.

One of his favourite methods for this cunning species is a maggot feeder with a short hook link.
