It’s “made” in Malaysia: Okay, kind of. It’s “locally assembled”, to be exact. For others, an accessible AMG might sound just as sacrilegious as a CKD one, but we beg to differ. At this price point, it’s not “One Man, One Engine” but there’s a lot of value to be had with AMG badging and body styling throughout. The diamond radiator grille and the spoiler lip on the boot are the same as the one on the AMG performance models. In addition, 19-inch AMG 5-spoke light-alloy wheels painted in high-gloss black are add-ons that we liked. It’s the first locally-assembled luxury performance car at the Pekan production plant along with the AMG GLC 43.
