It's not your imagination-it's science: Vacation sex hits different! Here's how to sneakily re-create those downright orgasmic vibes without cashing in a single frequent-flier mile.

Hotel Sex at Home

Isn't it funny how people compliment your sun-kissed glow when you get back from a beach trip without even realizing that what they're actually picking up on is the postcoital aura of someone who's been having mind-blowing sex all week? Heh.

But seriously, like I said, this is very legit stuff: "On vacation, we usually let go of the stressors in our everyday lives, so our bodies are primed to be in a state of relaxation and our minds aren't all over the place. It's easier for us to be in the present, which leads to better sex," explains certified sex therapist Todd Baratz.

On top of the mindset shift, any little experience that pulls you out of your everyday routine can prime you for pleasure, says certified sex therapist Kate Balestrieri, PsyD. "Every novelty, from the smell of flowers in the lobby to the texture of the sheets on the hotel bed, is new information for your brain," she says. These foreign-to-you luxuries create tiny hits of dopamine that lead to an erotic feeling of anticipation that, in turn, majorly heightens your enjoyment.
