Cosmo: When you were younger, what inspired you to design?

Steve Madden: “Everyone in my family was considerably older than me, and much of my early information came from my brothers and my parents. The Beatles had an enormous effect on me, even though I was only six when they came to the US. Music in general has inspired me throughout my life. Terry de Havilland, who designed platforms in the ’70s, was also a big part of why I chose to design.”
