Dark clouds hanging over Home And Away’s future have its stars in a panic

It’s been a fixture on Australian TV screens for 31 years, but last week loyal Home And Away fans were in shock over worrying rumours that the show was getting the axe. According to several reports, a consistent decline in viewership has caused concern for Seven, who are said to be exploring the option of demoting the popular soap to a later timeslot – or a different channel on the network entirely.
While the show has always been a primetime winner, fans of Summer Bay are believed to have decreased significantly since 2017, leading TV bosses to weigh up the option of bringing Today Tonight back to compete with news shows like The Project and A Current Affair that have people switching on at 7pm.
