Sydney mum Amanda Howard gets more than 50 letters a week from the world’s most depraved murderers.

When most of us check the letterbox, we’d be lucky to find any mail that isn’t a bill or a flyer, but Amanda Howard has one that’s overflowing with handwritten notes from the most evil killers alive.

Before his death in 2013, Richard Ramirez, who became known as the “Night Stalker” after killing 14 people across California in the ’80s, sent Amanda letters so “sick and perverted”, they would turn her stomach.

Theresa Knorr, an American woman convicted of torturing and murdering two of her six children, talks about her crimes “so graphically and with no emotion” in letters she has also penned to Amanda.

“That woman is pure psychopath,” Amanda explains with a shudder. “I would have interviewed 250 serial killers, but she’s the one who still gives me chills.”
