A Fifth Generation Miracle Baby!

Little Theo survived a stroke at birth, and defied doctor’s fears to meet his great-great-grandmother

With the sweetest of smiles and a twinkle in her eye, Winnie “Nanny Jock” McLean gently cradles her precious great-great-grandson Theodore Edward Thornton.

Along with Winnie’s daughter Bonnie, granddaughter Justine and great-granddaughter Joanna, Theo’s mum, that makes a record five generations for our photoshoot!

“It’s hard to believe there’s almost 100 years between us,” Winnie, 97, tells Woman’s Day from her retirement village on Queensland’s Gold Coast. “I’m completely besotted!”

IT’S A MIRACLE!

Joanna, 30, chokes back tears as she tells us how much of a miracle baby her son Theo really is – and how he very nearly didn’t make it. “It was every parent’s worst nightmare – my husband Lewis and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

“I had a long labour – 37 hours – until they had to induce me. Theo weighed a healthy 3.4kg, was 50cm long and everything seemed normal,” she explains.
