Q Where do we find Endeavour as the new series begins?

A It’s New Year 1970 and he’s in Venice at the opera and meets a girl called Violetta [Stephanie Leonidas] and they have a holiday fling. She’s not the girl next door. There’s something unobtainable about her, which will break your heart.

Q What was it like to film in Venice, especially as you directed the episode, too?
