The first season of romantic drama Virgin River saw medic Mel Monroe, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, escaping a painful past in Los Angeles to take up a new job as a midwife and nurse practitioner in a small California town.
Mel struck up a romance with Marine-turned bar owner Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), and season two ended with a shocking cliffhanger as Mel discovered Jack bleeding from a gunshot wound in his bar.
